The Â鶹´«Ã½Academy of Master Surgeon Educators^® virtual Fireside Chat Series connects you with experts for an open dialog driven by audience questions.

This session is a discussion with L.D. Britt, MD, MPH, DSc(Hon), FACS, FCCM, FRCSEng(Hon), FRCSEd(Hon), FWACS(Hon), FRCSI(Hon), FCS(SA)(Hon), FRCS(Glasg)(Hon), MAMSE and will focus on his career and lessons learned.

Dr. L.D. Britt, a member of the National Academy of Medicine, is a native of Suffolk, Virginia. Graduating valedictorian of Booker T. Washington High School, he received a BA degree (with Distinction) from the University of Virginia and was elected to the coveted Raven Society. Dr. Britt, a graduate of Harvard Medical School and Harvard School of Public Health, has had extensive surgical and critical care training. He has conferred honorary doctorates by three universities (Norfolk State University, Tuskegee University, and Howard University).

Host and Welcome Remarks

The host for the Fireside Chat is Mohsen M. Shabahang, MD, PhD, FACS, MAMSE, Vice President/Chief Medical Officer of the Wellspan Surgery Service Line, York, PA. Dr. Shabahang joined Wellspan in the summer of 2021. He serves as the Chair of the Subcommittee on Novel Teaching and Assessment Methods and Educational Resources for the Â鶹´«Ã½Academy of Master Surgeon Educators.

Ajit K. Sachdeva, MD, FACS, FRCSC, FSACME, MAMSE, Director of the Â鶹´«Ã½Division of Education and Co-Chair of the Â鶹´«Ã½Academy of Master Surgeon Educators Steering Committee, will give welcoming remarks.

About the Series

The Â鶹´«Ã½Academy of Master Surgeon Educators Fireside Chat Series was developed as an outcome of discussions of the Â鶹´«Ã½Academy of Master Surgeon Educators Special Committee to Address Challenges and Opportunities Relating to Surgery Residency Training during the COVID-19 pandemic. The committee was charged to address the challenges faced by educators and to harness innovative opportunities in surgical education. The Fireside Chat Series will enable programs and their learners to have access to valuable talks and discussions with experts both in a synchronous and asynchronous manner.
